A Skins Game refers to a golf betting game in which players bet cold, hard cash on who will reach a hole in the fewest strokes; the loser gets skinned of their cash.  Claims to the origin of the term are varied, from a story about 15th century Scottish furriers to 20th century slang.  But in the end, somebody’s gonna pay.
